Probably his
most well-known fundraising and sponsorship event
was Summer Connections, which operated entirely
on monies raised by Dr. Hammons from 1998-2007.
During this decade-long Program, Dr. Hammons
raised over a half a million dollars in funds
and in like-kind services from local businesses
and philanthropic organizations.

As a life-long Corpus Christi resident, Dr. Hammons'
circle of influence, associates, and friends is
extensive. Because of this, his ability to pinpoint
the correct and appropriate source for fundraising
has been enhanced. He has raised funds for PTA groups,
helped Girl Scouts go to Six Flags and helped numerous
Boy Scout packs and troops raise enough money to
send them on their way. In fact, he has helped start
several Boy Scout packs and troops during his tenure
at CCISD.
